Beaver Dam Furnace was established in 1819 by J. T. Mason and operated under ironmaster Robert Crockett. The sandstone furnace stood approximately 35 feet high, with a base measuring about 28 feet square. It produced iron products including nails, plow plates, kettles, skillets, and flatirons, which were transported to market by flatboat. Operations ended around 1870–1873. Today, a historical marker commemorates the site’s significance in Kentucky’s ironmaking history.
