Although not an arch, this is a very popular overlook. The hike to the top consists of (after paying the owner of the parking lot, of course) a 1-mile flat hike along the river followed by a 1-mile-long butt-kicker straight to the parking lot on top of Raven’s Rock. In the 70’s and early 80’s, I drove my Renault LeCar to the top of Raven’s Rock twice that I can remember. We were told that they closed off road travel to the top because 2 people died while trying to hang glide off the top. It is still an easy hike since I completed the entire hike bare-footed since you must cross very large and fairly deep mud puddles in the road.
In the 80’s I drove my LeCar across the mud puddle just to find that the road had been gated and access to the top was limited to foot travel. As I drove back to the road (with some anger), my car skipped across the mud puddle at high velocity; every time my car bounced on the water, it sent a curtain of water to either side. This was ok, except there was another car waiting to cross the mud puddle with his window down and the last wave of water & mud went right through his window.
